A Student Coalition for the Future of Mind Research
The Mind Science Society (MSS) is the campus and student network of the Mind Science Institute, dedicated to exploring consciousness across disciplines, from neuroscience to AI, psychology to philosophy.
On campus, MSS works directly with students, labs, and the wider community to turn this exploration into real programs: research-facing events, high trust salons, visiting speaker sessions, and project pods that link undergrads with leading scientists and practitioners.
Membership is selective and cohort based.
We keep the group small and intentional so that students are not just attendees but builders of a serious, cross disciplinary community focused on the nature of mind.

Our ecosystem brings together scientists, students, entrepreneurs, philosophers of mind, contemplative scholars, and policy and ethics leaders. Student Fellows serve as the operational bridge between this network and their universities, recruiting a cross disciplinary cohort of sharp, curious thinkers. They convene minds that would not normally meet and run a small, high signal program across our three pillars.
As a Student Fellow, you have real freedom. You choose what to build on your campus, which conversations to host, and how far to push the edges of mind, AI, and consciousness.

Over the past year, MSS has united students from leading universities (Stanford, UChicago, UCLA, and Northwestern) and connected them with pioneers such as Reid Hoffman, Astro Teller, Jay Sanguinetti, Ana Maiques, and Judson Brewer through talks, panels, and immersive retreats.
The Society acts as the operational bridge between the next generation of minds and the broader global ecosystem. We seek to fuel research, dialogue, and innovation at the intersection of science, technology, and consciousness.

A Look Into Mind Science Society:
Mindworks
The Mind Science Society at UChicago and Northwestern visited Mindworks, Chicago Booth’s behavioral science lab, to explore how researchers study decision-making, attention, and social behavior through interactive experiments. We discussed how experimental design can translate insights about the mind into real-world tools for learning, leadership, and wellbeing.
Shirley Ryan Ability Lab
The Mind Science Society at University of Chicago and Northwestern University visited Shirley Ryan AbilityLab to explore innovative approaches in neurorehabilitation, brain-computer interfaces, and translational neuroscience. Members learned how clinicians, engineers, and researchers collaborate to develop technologies that improve recovery, mobility, and quality of life for patients with neurological conditions.
SBMT Conference
The Mind Science Society @ UCLA attended the SBMT (Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics) Conference at the LA Convention Center. Members networked with physicians and neuroscientists from around the world and attended lightning talks led by premier scientists in neurosurgery, neuroscience, digital therapeutics, and mental health.
